Make this easy Keto Gravy Recipe in a flash with simple ingredients, with or without roast beef or turkey drippings!
Is it just me, or is gravy always the best part of a turkey or roast beast dinner? I just can’t imagine either without it! Luckily for us, making a Keto Gravy is super easy, and you don’t even need roast beef or turkey drippings to make it! I’m not going to lie, it’s a lot tastier with homemade drippings, but is still a yummy keto gravy recipe without it!
Why it works
- Beef or turkey stock bring so much flavour to this keto gravy recipe, then we enhance it’s natural goodness by adding onion powder, garlic powder, red wine vinegar and worcestershire.
- We use xanthan gum to thicken this delicious gravy to keep it keto friendly!
- Even though it is tastier with meat drippings, this Keto Gravy can still be made by using beef, turkey or vegetable stock instead.
Ingredients
- butter
- beef, turkey or chicken drippings and/or stock.
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- ground black pepper
- worcestershire
- red wine vinegar
- salt
To thicken
- xanthan gum
- olive oil
Beef, Turkey or Chicken Drippings and/or Stock – To maximize flavour, I recommend using drippings from whatever meat you are cooking as the base for this gravy. Top up to the 2 cups liquid with either stock or water. If you do not have any meat drippings, you can use 2 cups beef or turkey stock.
Salt – The amount of salt needed will completely depend on how salty your meat drippings and/or stock are. You may not need to add any salt at all, but you may need quite a bit. Wait until just before serving the gravy to taste and adjust the salt.
How to make Keto Gravy
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Pour in 2 cups meat drippings/stock and the onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, worcestershire and red wine vinegar. Stir to combine and bring the Keto Gravy to a boil. Reduce to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
The gravy may have reduced enough at this point to be thick enough, depending on how you like your gravy. If it is a good thickness, simply taste and adjust the salt to your preference, then serve hot. Otherwise, continue on to thicken it further.
Combine the xanthan gum and olive oil in a small bowl and stir to combine. Slowly pour the mixture into the Keto Gravy while whisking constantly, then simmer for another minute until thick. Taste, adjust the salt to your preference, then serve hot.
