Keto Marinara Sauce

Make your own incredibly delicious Keto Marinara Sauce in just 10 minutes for a fraction of the cost of store bought sugar free pasta sauce!

Skillet with keto marinara sauce, garnished with chopped basil.

Are you as fed up as I am with the price of Keto pasta sauce? It’s insane! Where I live in Canada, a typical jar costs over 10$! For one jar! What’s up with that, hey? Other pasta sauces can be as little at .99 cents for the same quantity. It’s crazy!

With this Keto Marinara Sauce, you won’t need to spend an arm and a leg every time you want to make zucchini noodles or cabbage lasagna!

Ingredients

All ingredients used in this Keto Marinara.

Organic Diced Tomatoes – I always buy organic, non GMO diced tomatoes, and read the labels to find the tomatoes with the least amount of ingredients. My favourite brand has only organic tomatoes and organic tomato juice.

Monk Fruit / Erythritol Sweetener – We use sweetener to cut down on the acidity caused by the tomatoes in this sugar free pasta sauce. If you don’t want to use it, that’s fine, but I highly recommend it! I like the brands SoNourished or Lakanto.

How to make Keto Marinara Sauce

It’s so easy!! Grab a medium saucepan and heat it on medium heat with the avocado (or olive) oil. Mince the garlic and, once the oil is hot, add the garlic and fry until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Saucepan with diced tomatoes and spices, ready to be mixed and brought to a simmer.

Stir in the diced tomatoes, water, red wine vinegar, sweetener and remaining spices (red pepper flakes, onion flakes, basil, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper). Bring the Keto pasta sauce to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.

Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce into a dreamy, creamy, smooth Keto Marinara Sauce, or leave chunky if you prefer, though I highly recommend it nice and smooth!

Expert Tips

  1. Use a garlic press to easily and efficiently press the garlic into smithereens.
  2. Leave your sugar free pasta sauce chunky if you prefer, though I highly recommend it nice and smooth!
  3. Don’t have an immersion blender but want a smooth sauce? Cool it to room temperature and then blend in either a food processor or blender. After it is processed smooth, it can be returned to the saucepan to be reheated.
  4. Use this Keto Marinara Sauce immediately or cool to room temperature, pour into an air tight container or jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze and it will last 3-4 months!
