What is the best part of a pizza? The guts, right?
Well this Keto Chicken Pizza Crust is 100% pizza guts! There is no bread to take away from all that delicious pizza flavour. It’s just meat, pizza sauce, cheese and other toppings of your choice!
Pizza is one of my family’s favourite meals, so I am constantly trying new ways to do pizza night! This Keto Chicken Pizza Crust is a new favourite. I love playing with the different ingredient combinations that work best with the chicken crust.
I hope you love it as much as we do!
Why it works
- You’ll be surprised at how well ground chicken holds together once baked in the shape of a pizza crust. Grab a slice and go!
- Unlike Fathead Crust where each slice has 1.4 g net carbs (yeah, still very low), this Keto Chicken Pizza Crust has virtually zero carbs, making each slice only 0.3 g total carbs!
- Packed with protein and fat, this pizza will leave you full for hours.
Keto Chicken Pizza Crust Ingredients
- ground chicken
- mozzarella
- parmesan
- spicy spaghetti or Italian seasoning
Now, when it comes to the chicken, you will need to get some ground chicken. Ground chicken thigh is the best, flavour wise, but breast is fine too. If you can’t find it, ground turkey will also work.
How to make Keto Chicken Pizza Crust
Making a Keto Chicken Pizza Crust is easier than any other pizza crust I can think of.
Heat your oven to 400° and place a sheet of parchment paper down on your work station for the chicken. You want the paper as large as your baking sheet or pizza pan.
Grab a mixing bowl and combine the ground chicken, parmesan, mozzarella and spices. Mix until fully combined then dump out onto the parchment paper.
Cover the chicken with a piece of wax paper and using a rolling pin, roll the chicken out until you have the desired shape. The wax paper will pull right off once you are finished rolling.
This recipe makes enough to fill a baking sheet or pizza pan. Keep in mind the pizza crust will shrink quite a bit will baking.
Once it is all rolled out to the size of your pan, remove and discard the wax paper.
Slide the parchment paper (with the chicken crust on it) right onto your baking sheet or pizza pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the top has started to brown.
Remove the crust from the oven, add whatever toppings you like, then place bake in the oven until the cheese has melted, about 5 minutes or so.
Slice into 6 and enjoy!
Watch it all go down!
Expert Tips
- Is ground chicken too expensive where you live? You can easily make your own from chicken thighs or chicken breast. Do you have a meat grinder? Here is the tutorial for you. Otherwise, if you have a food processor or blender, check out this one.
- When working with chicken, be sure to wash your hands, utensils and work spaces directly after coming into contact with the chicken. Cross contamination can happen very easily, and we don’t want to give anyone Salmonella poisoning!
- Roll out the chicken pizza crust as thin as possible for a nice, thin crust.
Pizza topping ideas
There are so many great choices to top this Keto Chicken Pizza Crust with! Keep in mind that this pizza crust taste like, well, like chicken. It does not taste like bread, because, well, it’s chicken. So let’s choose some flavours that go with chicken!
BBQ Chicken
This pizza is all sorts of delicious! Spread Low Carb BBQ Sauce all over the crust and top with mozzarella, diced peppers and red onion.
Cheese
Super basic, but still delicious, load up that crust with Sugar Free Pizza Sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, feta and bocconcini cheese.
Bacon Ranch
Such a great choice, the pizza crust gets loaded with Low Carb Ranch Dressing then topped with mozzarella, sliced tomatoes and crumbled crispy bacon.
Prosciutto Basil
One of my most favourite flavour combinations, this Prosciutto Basil pizza features the chicken crust, Sugar Free Pizza Sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, tomato slices and thinly sliced prosciutto. If your macros allow it, garnish this beauty with a balsamic reduction after it’s been baked.
Side dishes to go with Keto Chicken Pizza Crust
I find pizza made with the Keto Chicken Pizza Crust very heavy, so like to make lighter side dishes to pair with it. Here are a couple of options:
- Mama Bear’s Garden Salad
- Ranch Cauliflower Broccoli Salad with Bacon and Cheddar
