This post was originally published on June 9, 2018 and has been updated with fresh content and images, though the recipe has stayed perfectly the same.
It’s been a year and a half since I first published this 90 Second Keto Bread, and it is still my most used recipe. I am always on the move with busy kids and running the household, never mind all of Mama Bear’s Cookbook, so am always in need of quick meals.
Breakfast sandwiches are among my favourite ways to start the day and sandwiches and burgers are a house staple. I hope you love this 90 Second Keto Bread as much as we do!

- unsalted butter
90 Second Keto Bread Recipe
In a microwave safe dish combine the almond flour with parmesan, shredded cheddar, sea salt, onion powder and baking powder.
Whisk in the egg and oil until fully combined.
Microwave for 90 seconds. It will have puffed up in the microwave and look like a spongy egg creation!
Heat the butter in a skillet on medium high. Cool the bread for a minute or two and then pop it out of the dish. Cut the 90 Second Keto Bread in half, horizontally, to form two thinner bread slices.
Once the butter in the skillet is hot, add the bread slices and fry until nice and toasty. Flip the bread slices over and fry until the other sides are toasty as well.
Enjoy as toast, burger bun or sandwich bread.

Expert Tips
- Whisk the mixture well enough so that the egg is fully beaten and combined well with the other ingredients.
- If the egg is not fully cooked after the 90 seconds in the microwave, cook for an additional 10 seconds in the microwave.
- Cool the bread just long enough to be able to work with it without getting burned – it will be very hot right from the microwave.
- Be sure the skillet and butter are hot when the bread is added, this will give the bread a nice toasty colour and texture.

The fella follows keto and always laments not having a bun for his burgers. I cant wait to try this the next time we make burgers.
He will be excited then! I love being able to have a burger without cheating!
I love this recipe. I added 1/8 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder and used coconut oil instead. Put the slices in the toaster oven (on tray) on broil, approx 1.5 minutes each side. (I flipped with spatula). It was nicely toasted. Then awhile hot, I smeared some cream cheese on ’em and sprinkled ’em with some keto friendly cinnamon sugar.. YUMMY Dessert😊
Thank you for the base recipe.. It’s perfect for experimenting with.
Whoa Kimberly you nailed it! I am actually drooling and cannot wait to try it myself! Sounds like a cinnamon roll, yum! Thanks so much for sharing this!! 😀

I <3 Keto breads. I'm excited to see this one especially. I was going through a lengthy baking process creaming cream cheese/butter/eggs. Now I have a quick option with ingredients that are a steadfast. Thanks!
Hi Analida, yes this bread is ready in minutes which is perfect for when you are hungry NOW, not 2 hours from now 😀

You are too sweet Kelly! Thanks so much 🙂
Eating Keto isn’t always easy. Today I looked longingly at a table full of sweets at work. I walked away, feeling a little sad. Then I found this recipe and it made my day! I will be making this constantly now 😀. Thank you
It is super tough sometimes, isn’t it? That takes some serious restraint to walk away, I hope you gave yourself a serious pat on the back, and I bet you feel super awesome for holding off! I make this recipe multiple times every single week, it has saved me countless times when I’ve been about to cave. I hope it does the same for you Rachel! Thanks for commenting 😀
What are the nutritional fact about the 90 sec low carb bread?
Hi Audree!
The nutrition facts are after the third photo in the post and I’ll also add them here:
Calories: 364 Net Carbs: 6 Fat: 31 Protein: 16
Thanks for asking 😀
yes you can use this recipe with coconut flour, i use it all the time. coconut flour does add a sweeter flavor. just cut the flour to 1 tbsp coconut flour. i find in all my recipes there is a 3 to 1 difference . coconut flour in baking is alot courser , almond is finer. often i will use both for tastes effects. my husband is diabetic and i cut the grms alot of carbs.
Wow thanks for this excellent comment! It’s great to know it would still work well with coconut flour 🙂
This was awesome! Have you made a scaled up version of this recipe for a loaf? I would love to include this in my meal prep!
Hey Dustin I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I eat one of these almost every day 😅 but have not got around to trying it load style yet! My husband. Is gluten free and also loves these, so would be great to have a loaf rather than constantly making singles! Thanks for the idea 😆
Have you had any luck with using coconut flour instead of almond?
Hey Amy! I have not used coconut flour, no, but have seen some recipes that use coconut flour. I know you cannot directly replace almond flour with coconut flour, but am not sure what the exact measurements would be, sorry!
